2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Dreadnaughts have deployed to Iraq in 2005

For the fourth time since 1941, the United States of Army's 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment has deployed to foreign soil in response to it's Nation's call for an armed Armor Battalion to join forces with other U. S. Army Forces and it's Allies to implement our President's policies, to make the world safer from terrorists, and to help the Iraqi people experience their first taste of democracy in many, many decades.

The Dreadnaughts have been deployed to Iraq in 2005, making this the fourth major deployment since it's creation. The Battalion first went to battle on the European continent  in World War II,  then went on and fought in the many provinces (then) South East Asia's South Vietnam and Cambodia, and was last sent to battle in Kuwait and Iraq in Operation Desert Storm / Operation Desert Saber. Now in it's 64th year, the Dreadnaughts are on foreign soil again armed with their tanks in connection with Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"Fear God - Dreadnaught" is their un-official motto, stemming from Vietnam, but the Regimental motto is officially "The Strong Arm of Victory".  Both mottos make thier statements about the Battalion and the men who have served it and are currently serving under it's Colors.

The 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor regiment's deployment follows the long and hard deployment of it's neighboring and brother Fort Riley Regimental Battalion, the 1st Battalion, 34th Armor. The "Centurions" deployed first to Iraq in preparation for the initial actions to depose of Sadam Hussien and his Regime. After the initial armed confrontations and battles with the Iraqi insurgents, the Centurions went on performed their assigned missions and in their off duty hours and downtime - they helped the local Iraqi people by building and repairing schools and other needed Iraqi civilian projects. During the Centurions deployment, The Dreadnaught's at Fort Riley helped in the comforting and support of their families at home.

The 1st Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment "Centurions" lost a total of nine good men during their deployment and have now returned home. They will return the Dreadnaught's Fort Riley activities in kind during the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment's deployment.

This web site will make every effort to inform it's membership and it's Internet viewers of the Dreadnaught's Iraq Deployment activities, but not without exercising all the due care, caution, and will comply with all the posted security guidelines.  The webmaster asks that all it's membership and Internet visitors to please follow the U.S. Army's posted guidelines and to excercise common sense in all affairs dealing deployed troops in Iraq.

Thank You!
